Life is Hard

I wake up missing tomorrow

I return to bed longing for yesterday

Time has gone from this strange place,

Longer days, shorter hours

Nightfall is never the same;

I run the race everyday

This race is long to win

This race I fail over and over again

The world loves you only when you take home the gold;

It beats you down when in pain and sorrow

Some easement alone we require

Some hope, tangible to call our own,

But all we have is desire

Wanting a need we can never grasp, touch or breathe

This life is hard indeed.

Loneliness in October

Enter morning stage left

Midnight aloneness fades from heart and mind,

I am bereft of time

Reaching outbound to draw you closer

The further and yonder

You steer from my shores, asunder

We must be apart to feel love

Somnolent wind whispers your song

To my ear. Oh, dear,

If only you could be so near…

If only you were here.
